Indian clothing is a kaleidoscope of colors, patterns, and textures. Each type of Indian clothing is closely related to the culture, religion, and climate, of a local region. Traditional Indian clothing for women comprise of the saris, cholis, or the salwar kameez.

Saris are very graceful and elegant pieces of clothing. Those that are made of silk are the most elegant types, and adored by many. The sari or saree is a garment typically used in the Indian subcontinent. A sari is basically a sheet of unstitched fabric, ranging in length from four to nine meters draped over the body, using different styling techniques. The women, complete their colorful ensembles and make-up, with a bindi on their foreheads.

The traditional way of dressing in India tends to vary with the males and females. This remains to be practiced in the rural areas. Young girls, before they reach puberty, wear a langa (long skirt), and a choli on top of it. The langa or lehanga is a type of pleated skirt that is tied around the waist, leaving the midriff and back bare.
